Now that we have summarized some generic info, lets go more into depth!
Vinyl Wrap Pricing
For most shops and installers, buying materials here on the U.S. Domestic market, ROlls can cost between $600-900+.
This is important as it plays a major roll in determining what installer is best for you, but we will talk more about that later. What you pay for a vinyl wrap job is most heavily dependent on the skilled labor. As we always preach... skilled labor isnt cheap, and cheap labor isnt skilled. All pricing info below includes material + Labor for exterior only!
Low Quality Wrap : $1500 - $2000
This would be the bottom of the barrel. A installer with little to no experience looking for practice. This is where cheap clients end up. Most people who decide to go this route end up disappointed with results. Expect Bubbling, peeling, damage to the paint underneath, and much more.
Middle Tier Wrap : $2000 - $3000
This represents the large majority of vinyl wrap jobs and installers. At this price point you are almost certain to get decent results. work at this price point often is pretty dialed in! Expect the job to be done with decently high quality, great coverage, professional seams, and overall great aesthetic appearance. Where some of these jobs fall short is longevity, many middle tier film installers end up delivering great results but don't fully understand the properties of vinyl wrap leading to many clients experiencing mild film failure and peel back. While this can be repaired, it isn't ideal.
Top Tier Wrap : $3000 - $3800+
This is the top %10 of vinyl wrappers. Pricing in this category can vary drastically but on average expect to spend $2500+.
At this tier your film is installed properly with little to no tension, fantastic coverage, little to zero flaws with the install, crispy beautifully wrapped corners, and much more. This is where many installers fall just short of. Most high end shops will charge significantly more than $2500 / per car due their overhead. However if you can find a team or installer with lots of experience, close up photos, etc around this price point, you are most likely in good hands and can expect some fantastic results!
How long does vinyl WRap last?
Unlike what most manufactures say, vinyl wrap on average only lasts 2-3 years in outdoor conditions.
Indoors vinyl wrap can last 5+ years but shouldn't be left on like PPF. This relatively short lifespan is caused by two main factors. Firstly there is U.V. which fades and ages the plastics ruining their appearance. Second there is Glue Adhesive failure, with constant heat cycling from the sun it causes the adhesive to separate from the vinyl upon removal which will leave the vehicle with sheet of adhesive. THe best method for ensuring longevity... CERAMIC COAT YOUR WRAPS!
By coating your wrap you are applying a sacrificial and protective layer! This not only slows down U.V. damadge but protects the vinyl from scratching, water marks, etc.
Will a Vinyl Wrap Protect my paint?
When it comes to safeguarding your vehicle's paint, both vinyl wraps and Paint Protection Film (PPF) stand out as effective options, but they offer different levels of protection. Vinyl wraps serve as a protective layer against road debris, stone chips, harsh weather conditions, and UV rays, providing a shield that helps preserve the original paintwork. This makes vinyl wraps an excellent choice for those seeking a cost-effective and customizable solution to enhance the aesthetic appeal of their vehicle while adding an extra layer of protection.
However, it's essential to note that the protective capabilities of vinyl wraps, though substantial, may not match the level of defense provided by Paint Protection Film. PPF is a specialized, clear urethane film designed explicitly for the purpose of shielding a vehicle's exterior. Unlike vinyl wraps, PPF is thicker and engineered to absorb impacts and resist damage from stone chips and road debris more effectively. Additionally, PPF is known for its self-healing properties, a remarkable feature that allows minor scratches and swirl marks to vanish over time with exposure to heat or sunlight, maintaining a flawless finish.
While vinyl wraps offer a solid level of protection and customization, especially considering their cost-effectiveness and versatility, those seeking the highest degree of safeguarding and advanced features like self-healing may find Paint Protection Film to be the superior choice. It all boils down to the specific needs and preferences of the vehicle owner, whether they prioritize a protective shield with restorative capabilities or a customizable aesthetic with good overall defense.
